Week 3 Summary Blog Post

Week 3 Summary Blog Post

This week was all about reflection, creativity, and learning the flow of the class. I watched all of the videos assigned for the Week 3 Reflections, and I really enjoyed them. The TED Talk featuring Emily Bailin was my favorite. Her words inspired me to write my own “Where I’m From” poem as a way to express my own story. I also enjoyed the video with Jim Jorstad, which reminded me how important it is to share your story with others.

At first, I thought I had completed the assignment correctly, but when I went back to review it the next day, I noticed there was a Part 2 I missed. Even if I do not receive credit for it, I plan to complete Part 2 anyway because I want to fully experience what the assignment has to offer.

I am still figuring out how these summary posts work—whether I should summarize everything I did for the week in one post or create multiple posts for each assignment. I am also still learning how to tag my assignments correctly and make sure they show up in the right place after I publish them. Sometimes they do not appear where they should, which can be frustrating.

Daily Create Highlights

My Daily Create assignments this week were a lot of fun!

Heart of Texas
A little state pride mix-up — Texas meets the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Show Us Your World in Miniature
I used a Lego character and positioned it under a 45lb weight, adjusting the angle so it looked like the Lego was lifting the weight over its head.
  • Mix Up a Tourist Slogan
I found a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge in California and added the Texas slogan “Deep in the heart of Texas” for a funny twist.
  • International Dot Day
I drew an American flag using red and blue dots and added the word “Merica” with stars to make it playful and creative.

I enjoy doing the Daily Creates because they push me to think outside the box and bring humor into my work. The hardest part is posting them on the exact day they are released because of my busy schedule. I prefer to complete a few at once so I don’t forget them, even though I know the goal is to post daily.

Reflections and Challenges

This week taught me to be more creative and experiment with different types of media. My biggest challenge right now is figuring out the class workflow—making sure my blogs publish correctly and that I complete every step to get credit for my assignments. There are a lot of steps to remember, and I am still working on building that routine.

Sharing parts of myself online is also a challenge for me because I am not usually a social media or public-facing person. Posting pictures and personal stories is outside of my comfort zone, but I know it will help me grow and become more confident.
